Krone unveils new range of MX forage wagons at Agritechnica
Like all new models, it has a rugged frame and the EasyFlow pick-up with a 1,800mm work width and five rows of tines. In addition, the double tines are arranged in a ‘W’ line, a patented arrangement that guarantees a consistent crop flow and an equally consistent and material flow acrpss the full width to the cut and feed assembly. The benefits of this are higher intake rates, an exemplary quality of cut and maximum machine utilization.
The mechanical pick-up is protected from overload by a star ratchet clutch. Rear gauge wheels are an option. Running outside the tractor wheelings, these ensure best contouring and cleaner crops, especially in difficult terrain.
The eight-row rotor cutter (880mm diameter) is driven by an oil immersed gearbox that mounts on the side of the unit. The rotor feeds the material across a width of 1,580mm, with Hardox plated tines in helical arrangement ensuring a particularly quiet running and a low input power. The cutting system, too, is designed to deliver: 41 blades cut the material to nominal 37mm lengths. Featuring central blade group control, the rotor cutter is easily adjusted to the desired chop length (0, 21, 20 or 41 blades). Another standout feature is the blade cassette which swings out to the side so operators can conveniently change the blades from the side of the machine. The automatic SpeedSharp blade sharpener is an option on all new MX models and grinds all 41 blades in less than four minutes.
Further on, all models share the same well-proven and solid steel body with sloping floor with enclosed box section beams and sloping mudguards preventing material from collecting in these areas. The slotted headboard provides an excellent view of the load area. Another standard item is the door on the left machine side which offers convenient access to the load area. An optional specification is the crop covers that are conveniently controlled from the tractor.
The standout feature on the MX 370 GL/GD und 400 GL is the movable headboard which tilts to increase the capacity by about 4.5m3 and helps to empty the wagon quickly and completely. By comparison, the MX 330 and MX 370 have two discharge rollers and can be fitted with a third roller as an option. The 470mm diameter rollers empty the machine rapidly, with the bottom roller spinning at a higher speed than the top roller, producing a consistently thick mat on the clamp.
The new MX models are caster steered but can be specified with a mechanical forced steering system as an option. The running gear is a well-proven axle assembly that offers an 18t gross axle weight. A tandem axle with hydraulic compensation is an option. The system distributes the weight uniformly on all for wheels for smoothest and safest rides.
Those who seek maximum comfort can specify their machine with such options as the PowerLoad auto loading system, the automatic fast advance feature for the floor, LED work lights, and articulated drawbar with two selectable positions, the K80 ball hitch on the bottom-mount drawbar, a CCTV camera system and the Krone Delta or Krone CCI 1200 operator terminals.
Summary: Krone’s updated MX model range comprises five new dual-purpose forage wagons which offer useful efficiency-enhancing features for professional applications. The new series supplements Krone’s portfolio of forage wagons of 34 machines ranging from AX to ZX levels to suit an extensive range of applications.
