Krone introduces new rear mowers
At the heart of the mowers is the redesigned bed where the discs are no longer evenly spaced (Krone SmartCut). Instead, the pairs turning outwards are set closer together to increase blade overlap for stripeless cuts in crops. Vice versa, in dense crop the machine benefits from a larger gap between the discs turning towards each other to deliver a constant and smooth flow of grass to the rear without blockages and cleanest cuts at higher work rates. The direct-drive driveline comprises shafts and gearings and offers a clear advantage at wide widths and in dense crops.
The ‘DuoGrip’ suspension system suggests an exemplary balance and excellent protection of the sward. Suspending the machine in its centre of gravity and controlling it via two side arms, the system provides an optimum power flow and maximum stability along with better contour following. At the same time, the massive sus-pension springs ensure the machine responds instantly to undulations as it travels at high speeds. Those who wish to control the suspension system from the cab can replace the mechanical and instant-response springs by optional hydraulic rams. The impact damage protection system is integrated in the arm, where it cuts down break-back response time.
Further assets are high functionality and easy handling. All rear mowers feature a new and easy-adjust headstock that suits various tractor back ends. They also fold transversely into transport position - another absolutely useful design that swings the mowers vertically into a 110° position. This transport position offers the double benefit of distributing the weight perfectly to both linkage arms and bringing the machine very close to the tractor for compact road travel and clear rear view. Another practical detail is the curtains on the wings, which can be replaced separately when damaged. No need to replace all the canvas when only one curtain is damaged. Quick-change blades are standard items as a matter of course and supplemented by an integral blade storage box. Another plus point is the optional stands for vertical and room-saving winter storage in the shed.
Conditioner models
EasyCut R 280 CV and EasyCut R 320 CV are our tine conditioner mowers. The new CV intensive conditioner has 38 and 46 specifically formed V tines. A tine stop makes sure the system is ex-tremely quiet and protects tine attachment from wear without hampering the massive throughput. The tines will break back as they strike an object and their conditioning intensity is set to one of seven positions without tools on the baffle plate. The massive 65cm rotor guarantees smooth operation in long-haulmed crops that require more intensive conditioning input. The right-angle tines feed the crop past the baffle plate, conditioning the material across the full work width for extremely fast wilting. Rotor speed varies between 600rpm and 900rpm and is adjusted to current conditions from a mechanical gearbox. Another prominent detail is the 5cm thick rubber lining which serves as a crash crumple zone that protects the new rear mower conditioners from impacts with obstacles. Like the models without conditioner, the EasyCut R 280 CV and R 320 CV mower conditioners also offer vertical winter storage as an option.
