More capacity, less fuel
KRONE ZX – the new generation of dual-purpose forage wagons
Their camless EasyFlow pick-up unit works at a width of 2,100mm (DIN) and is able to pick up wide swaths rapidly and without leav-ing crop behind. The eight-row rotor cutter is also bigger now at 1840mm in width and 880mm in diameter. The tines are welded to the rotor in a helical arrangement and are surfaced with durable Hardox plates. These wide feed plates have proven their worth in protecting material from the unpleasant effect of compressing and squeezing.
Rotor drive power is supplied by a massive oil immersed gearbox – a configuration that translates into longevity, maximum throughputs and minimized maintenance.
Like the smaller AX and MX models, the ZX now benefits as well from the new chain-and-slat floor design, which slopes downwards by 350mm at the front end of the machine. This sloping floor signif-icantly reduces the space through which the material is transferred from the cutting rotor into the wagon, enabling faster and gentler crop feed as well as a substantial reduction in input power. As a result, the ZX models can be operated by about 150hp tractors and higher.
As an extra benefit, the sloping design increases the overall capac-ity, because it prevents the initial quantity of material entering the load area from falling over. As a result, the load area is filled to its full capacity all the way to rear.
Options include an integral electronic weighing system, which measures and stores the weight of each haul. The system uses weighing pins that are integrated into the drawbar and axle. The cab computer adds up the loads that measured on the axles and the drawbar and computes the total machine weight.
The advantage of this system is that it measures every haul in-stantly and during the loading process. This cuts out the visit to the weighing bridge, keeps the harvest chain running and saves op-erators an enormous amount of time. In addition, the system pro-vides 20 different memories to store the results by customer and field and easily determines the specific fresh matter yields.
In addition, by displaying the current load on the cab display screen, the new and integral weighing system helps increase road safety, making it possible to load the wagon to maximum capacity in a convenient and easy way. The accuracy of Krone’s new and cost-effective weighing system is ± 2.5% relative to its gross weight.
iGreen technology allows data to be sent for evaluation via UMTS. The on-board electronic system is ISOBUS and on-line compatible and the on-board hydraulic system is compatible with the tractor’s load-sensing system.
The chassis and running gear, too, reflect ZX’s professional breed-ing – a standard hitch hook and a K80 coupler ball along with tan-dem axles with hydraulic levelling provide optimum stability and prevent rolling whilst ensuring safe running on slopes and during swift cornering. The axles benefit from large suspension travel for an even distribution of the load at all times.
Intelligent loading saves time and money
Krone PowerLoad on ZX forage wagons relieves the strain on operators and your wallet
Sensor no. 1 is integrated in the headboard above the feed rotor, where it measures the force on the board and transmits the data to the CCI-ISOBUS computer. As soon as the force that is exerted on the sensor exceeds a preset limit, the system activates the chain-and-slat floor so this starts feeding the material to the rear of the load area.
Sensor no. 2 is mounted on the headboard’s top flap where it measures the volume of the crop. To do this, the hinged flap, which inclines into the load area, is pushed up and into a vertical position as the filling level increases. Then the chain-and-slat floor starts off automatically to move the crop to the rear. This way, the machine is filled to capacity as cycles of filling and moving the material to the rear are repeated. PowerLoad is the first system on the market that senses the force exerted on a wagon side and that links this parameter to chain-and-slat floor activity. The system measures only the current filling level and does not relate to other parameters like number of knives engaged, sharpness of knives, form and size of the swath or type and fabric of the crop.
As another advantage, Krone PowerLoad offers operators an intelligent and automatic system, which replaces the traditional ‘guessing game’ and allows contractors to assign loading jobs also to inexperienced operators, reducing the number of hauls and consumption rates per tonne of crop.
Summary: Krone is the first manufacturer to offer an automatic loading system for their ZX forage wagons. This PowerLoad system operates relative to the force the crop exerts on a wagon side and to the volume of crop filled, thereby warranting the wagon is filled efficiently to capacity.
