2005
In autumn 2005, KRONE implements the AutoScan sensor on all EasyCollect maize headers. The sensor detects maturity levels in maize crops. This allows the electronic system on the harvester to control the chopping length fully automatically. The benefits are obvious – green (i.e. moist) maize is automatically chopped to longer lengths, maintaining the structure of the crop whereas brown (i.e. dry) maize is chopped to shorter lengths for better compaction in the clamp and stopping fermentation.
