William Moulin: KRONE BiG Pack passing down from generation to generation
The farm of William Moulin is located in the village Montbel, on a plateau at an altitude of 1200 meters and in the heart of the department of Lozère (48) in the South East of France.
The company was founded in 1988 by William’s father. William has started in 1997 and set up the GAEC "La Plaine de Montbel" together with his mother who will soon retire.
The farm specializes in beef cattle breeding with a herd of 90 Aubrac cows.
Today, the cultivated area is 280 ha with 90 hectares being dedicated to forage, 30 hectares to cereals and the remainder to pasture. Every year, William produces 700 straw and 600 hay bales with his KRONE BiG Pack. He points out that winter can be very long in Lozère and last up to 7 months. Therefore it is essential to have excellent-quality forage, which also requires good baling.
In 2000, William and his father decided to replace their existing square baler. Their local KRONE dealer Delor offered them a used KRONE BiG Pack 120-80 baler. The decision to bale square bales on the farm was made because of their sheep farming activity and the existence of a feeding belt in the barn, so the machine capacity was perfectly suited to this need.
Today, William Moulin's BiG Pack is starting its 18th bale harvesting campaign! He is completely satisfied with the baler, because it is very reliable and has rarely suffered any downtimes in 18 years. Every year, William is looking forward to his haymaking campaign because he knows that everything will be fine with his KRONE machine and that the forage will be in the barn soon.
William's children were born after the baler arrived on the farm and yet they are now very happy to use it too, which confirms the farmer that KRONE was a good choice. The future is assured!
